NeoGAF goes dark after sexual misconduct allegations against owner "The influential gaming forum NeoGAF is imploding in the wake of an accusation of sexual misconduct against the long-running site's owner. Yesterday, around a dozen of NeoGAF's moderators -- more than half, according to two sources -- quit their posts there, and the website has been down for over half a day following a string of threads in which users requested bans, flooded the forums with angry posts, and declared that they were quitting." This post was deleted for the following reason: This is the fourth sexual assault post just today, and we're hearing from members who have been assaulted that it's becoming overwhelming and triggering. Maybe this could go in the still-open "me too" post, since the situation grew out of a me-too posting? -- Eyebrows McGee

*sighs*

No surprises here. I just assume this is the default setting for every thing and every one these days. Especially when it comes to gaming and gaming culture. I know that some would say this cynicism is no way to live from day to day. To those who have the power to stay positive in the face of so much ugliness. Good on you.

The little bit of light in all of this darkness is that people on the NeoGAF forum are speaking up and demanding action. I'll cling on to that.

Yeah, I'm impressed that the overall tone seems to be that the community is angry about the guy doing this stuff, and not angry because someone said it's not OK to. I mean, it's still not good, but it at least seems like a step in the right direction for a change?
