I have a shoulder cat. She will stand on my shoulder and ride around as I walk all over the house and even parts of outdoors. It's adorable. Great balance, too!

My little Loki was a sweet shoulder-cruiser. She’s been gone twenty years now, but just seeing a cat on someone’s shoulders brings back all kinds of warm-and-fuzzies.

I thought I adopted a sporty cat with racing stripes but those stripes were after market, I got a big old luxury cat built for comfort.

I have a quasi-shoulder cat. She only wants to snuggle by sitting over my left shoulder. Not the right! Never the right! Only the left shoulder. She is only happy if I have to support her rump and basically give her undivided attention to keep her immobile while she drapes over my shoulder and occasionally headbutts me or tries to groom my neck.
We fostered one kitten that was a natural shoulder cat. Beautiful grey and white kitty that I was very, very sad when she got adopted. I mean, happy that she found a person, but she was special and I miss her the most of all the kitties we've fostered.
All of these "commercials" are wonderful. May all of these cats and other animals find loving homes forever and ever, amen.

One of ours when I was growing up was a selective shoulder cat. Anytime I picked her up, it was straight onto my shoulder, but this only happened to me. I never figured out why I was honoured in this way - I was neither the tallest nor the smallest in the house, and I'm not exactly broad shouldered so it can't have been very comfortable.
