I fully support them having done this. It's totally a stunt, but it's a real film (haven't watched it, probably will start it), and they now have #1 Movie Makers on their resume. Brilliant!

This kind of creative movie hustle hearkens back to the days when you could promote a horror film by hiring a hearse to park in front of the theater in case a viewer "died of fright." This is the type of search-engine optimization disruption that I can stand behind.

It's a moderately encouraging sign that there are almost enough 21st century digital-culture horror films to have a festival: Followed (now playing at my drive-in), Searching, Unfriended, Unfriended 2: Dark Web, et cetera.
