Is it hope? Should I trust it? I want to.

Could San Francisco, capital of anti-Blackness, become a sanctuary city for Black lives?: I dream that privileged San Francisco parents would fight for adequate funding and staffing in schools serving Black and Brown children, and would do it with the same energy and doggedness they use to ensure high quality education for their own children. San Francisco, did you even know your schools have the lowest African-American achievement rates in the state? And that was pre-COVID.

Your White Neighbor’s “Black Lives Matter” Yard Sign Is Not Enough: I never once believed my neighbors kept their impeccable Black Lives Matter yard signs up as a sign of true protest. Black Lives Matter yard signs mattered to my neighbors because, in a world increasingly interested in protecting the rights of a select few, they were looking for ways to feel safe from white guilt. They didn’t want to take a hard look at how they too are contributing to this country’s undoing, by actively benefiting from the comfort of exclusionary liberal white communities.

Self-reflection is welcome. But until we undo the structures that hold up anti-blackness across the world, injustice will persist

Nope. But here we are anyway.

Don't miss that article just above: Can White Portland’s Fragility Handle a Megaquake? (Tiara Darnell, Portland Monthly). She links to some really good resources.

Yeah, Darnell's article is really good! I..."enjoyed" isn't really the word, as a white Portlander who still has a lot of shit to sort out, but I appreciated it a lot when someone shared it with me a few days back and like how not-fucking-around it was.

Protest on Saturday, parade on Sunday; 100% forget about on Monday.

It's been this way for quite some time now.
