I had this tab open for six months and decided that today was the best possible day to post it. But sure, let's go with mindreading. Whatever works for you. Pretty lamps! \o/

When I read the words “vintage lighting” I thought of my houseful of nautical lamps, many of which were electrified by my Dad in the late 40s. The plugs and cords have exceeded their safe lifespan so I’ve been rewiring them and encountering all sorts of weird decaying plastics, funky gutta percha, split sockets, petrifying rubber and more. To sum up: old lights good, old wiring bad.

I'd like to see some images of those nautical lamps, kinnakeet. Sounds really cool.

And why would you ever soil that kitchen with actual food preparation?

The souvenir lamps are pretty great.

Dunno about the Murano Drunk Clown Table Lamp, though.

Maybe needs its own "Cursed Lamps" category.

This has been a lovely and much-needed break from following the news; thank you.

Vintage lighting can still be pretty affordable compared to other items of their period and a great way to set a tone. I've been collecting for it since my poor college days. Having these quirky and lovely lamps and chandeliers around is very soothing.
