@AAAAAGGHHHH and r/perfectlycutscreams feature many, many short videos that cut off abruptly in the middle of a scream.

Has someone named this new editing trick? It's definitely of the internet, probably of Vine, but the way that videos end in millisecond that the joke has happened is pervasive and lovely and I am interested to see it start to translate to progressively bigger screens.

It’s something that I think has always been funny and been used in lots of media for ages periodically -any edit that essential cuts away right before a disaster is doing it- but this way of pulling it out and aggregating it in a specific form is just shamefully delightfully. I’m an absolute sucker for the form.

I think that the timing of the cut actually makes the viewer finish the scene and of course that ending is much better than what reality probably offered up. They come up in my twitter feed from time to time as retweets, so that's fun. I've never really sought them out, though. Must to be said for serendipity.

I love how this one completely fakes you out.

There is a much longer version of that dog video which I can no longer find in my tweet stream. It's pretty hilarious, really
