Well, good. That was less of a chore than it might have been, and it's on the move much sooner than I expected.

I can't wait for the next Ever Disaster!

Fair winds and following seas, until the next time you get your ass stuck in one of our planet's fine waterways.

I keep waiting for one of these ships to become immediately stuck again, like the USS Constitution from Fallout 4.

Without all those containers ... the boat was now too tall to pass underneath the Bay Bridge

Sheesh, if it ain't one thing it's two...

Maybe they should just rename their entire fleet Ever Aground. Was wondering how this situation was developing after reading the initial post.

Now that their barges have achieved folk hero status, they should maybe do a whistle-stop tour to the port cities on the Mississippi, who could really use the tourism. Imagine the delight when the Ever Given gets stuck in your hometown: Vicksburg! Memphis! St. Louis! Lake Itasca!

Apparently they spent until until April 4th trying to free her without having to unload the cargo.

In the end it took the removal of 500 containers to float her - about 10% of the cargo.

So I'm just going to smugly note from my armchair that I called it on day two.

Non paywall link?

For future reference, there’s no paywall for Ever Forward (March 14, 2022 to March 17, 2022) and other shipping news at gCaptain. See also Maritime Executive.
