"we stand for Mourner's Kaddish for 11 months after someone has passed"

"This is a love letter to my friends and community. Please stay. You matter." "Mourners' Kaddish" is a song by musician Fureigh (disclaimer: a friend of mine) in the context of suicidality among transgender people. "my friend / I hope you know you’re dear / I’d rather celebrate you while you’re here."

I'm kind of speechless, it's an amazing song. The pause after the first "I know you tried" couplet, it's just seems like the singer has so much more to say, and is pausing, trying to figure out if there's space for all they want to say, yet deciding, in the end, "I know you tried" is all that really needs to be, all that really can be said.

Just that little pause, in an already heartbreaking song, it's stunning.

Well ok, sobbing on a Wednesday. But this is great. Thanks.

Ah geez, this is beautiful but my lip is quivering when I'm supposed to be working on my annual review documents. "I didn't off myself" is, I guess, an implicit accomplishment on any document like that? It's been a rough one.

Brainwane, can I ask--is "Fureigh" pronounced like "furry" or another way?

Their (linked) website is "soundslikefury.com"; I assume that's intentionally instructional.

Given the last two years, “I’m still here” should be tacitly acknowledged as a profound achievement requiring strength and endurance far above and beyond anything we ever expected we’d need, Tesseractive. At least for the Metafilter annual review, you pass with flying colors.
