The Trees Have Eyes

Craig Walsh’s Monuments is a site-responsive, outdoor video installation… (that) evokes a haunting synergy between the human form, natural environment, and the act of viewing. Night-time projections transform trees into sculptural monuments, surveying the immediate environment.

I like the concept. I really like projections on things, and this combination of dense trees with a face projected is very interesting. I don't see anything about whose faces are used or what is going on there. I'd be curious to know if the faces were specific to the cities or just faces.

I'd like to think, it being called "Monuments" that these are projections that happen every night once installed, but that is not the case.

Still great and interesting art. Thanks for posting!

If you want a picture of the future, imagine a human face stamping on a grove of trees —for an indeterminate period of time.

Very captivating. That they’re video projections, and not simple still images, is especially effective.

I have a feeling these are best seen in person, especially on days where there’s enough of a breeze to stir the leaves around.

Thanks for posting this!
