Drawing the Times is a platform for graphic journalists and cartoonists, publishing special issues on climate change, "meat-free cities" and refugees. Tânia Alexandra Cardoso's ongoing series on Amsterdam (Chapter 1, Chapter 2)
during the pandemic explores how an "emptied" city is full of decades of decisions on urban redevelopment.
I really liked this, thanks. Particularly the Amsterdam series. I live in a fairly small town, so I didn't have personal experience of the contrast between normal city bustle and the silence of lockdown; and I'm familiar enough with Amsterdam for it to be a personally meaningful example, but my familiarity is from a very specific time period, and I didn't know anything about the history that led up to that time. So it's an all-around fascinating exploration! Bookmarked so I can keep up with further chapters.
