Lisa Marie Presley has died, aged 54. Lisa Marie Presley, only daughter of Elvis Presley, "The King of Rock Roll," and actor Priscilla Beaulieu Presley, was buried today in the Meditation Garden of the Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee. She is interred near her late father and her son, Benjamin Keough, who predeceased her in 2020. A memorial service is scheduled for this Sunday, January 22, and will be open to the public.

Cardiac arrest was the apparent cause of death, but the official COD is being deferred by the coroner's office pending investigation. However, there is a history of heart disease in the Presley family.

Presley was a singer-songwriter who released three albums, and was also involved in charity work. She served as chairperson of The Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation and was involved with The Dream Factory and the Grammy Foundation's Gold Grammy Signature Schools program.

Two days before her death, Presley and her mother attended the Golden Globe Awards ceremony to see Austin Butler receive the Best Actor trophy for his portrayal of Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann's 2022 film Elvis.

Married four times, she is survived by her mother and three daughters, actor/director Riley Keough and twins Harper and Finley Lockwood.

As I wrote elsewhere, I’m surprised by how sad I am about Lisa Marie Presley’s death. A fascinating and tragic person willing to share interesting and raw insights into her singular life, as in her recent essay on her grief over her son’s suicide. And extremely deadpan funny, as in this hilarious interview with David Letterman (about 5 minutes long plus musical performance). Regarding her cause of death, several of the journalists covering the Golden Globes have said she didn't seem to be herself and in clips from the show she's often holding on to her companions to steady herself.
RIP

Although I had been peripherally aware of her pretty my much our entire lives, I am pretty sure I never heard her sing until after she had died. She was not half bad at that.

A friend of mine got his professional start with her. He and his wife could not say enough about her kindness and generosity, and they were heartbroken to see her go.
