I've been hip-hopping since my days in the swamp

Nerdcore rapper The Stupendium (previously) now uses they/them pronouns, so I apologize for the language in the earlier thread. But their latest project brings together half of nerdcore to blow your mind with a rap battle you'd never expect: Unlikely Cyphers: The Muppets

This is it. This is why the Internet came to be. Time to pack it up, we're done. (I feel like this might be some kind of algorithmically tuned supply chain attack on my psyche - all the things I enjoy at once).

I know, right? You think there's no way it could be as good as you imagine, but no, it really is that good.

They really missed their chance to make Animal a soundcloud rapper where he’s mostly unintelligible and shouting the same thing over and over, which I understand is kind of not the idiom nerdcore works in, but it’s so appropriate for his character

The final verse is really a masterpiece, though

I found it a little disconcerting how some were doing the voices and some were not.

OTOH even if the whole rest of it was terrible (which it wasn't) it would still be worth it for the Swedish Chef.

Statler! Waldorf! Such a pleasure to see them. (And a greater pleasure to see them go away, ho ho ho!)

Rapping is really hard! It's a skill like learning any other instrument, it takes years. Instruments are different though, some rappers can do a muppet voice, some probably shouldn't. All of these rappers are incredibly skilled though.

Tangentially, there was an article on CNN last week:

Wisconsin school district bans Miley Cyrus-Dolly Parton duet with ‘rainbow’ in title

The song Rainbowland is rather anodyne, Dolly and Miley feel that we would all be happier if we just got along. Wisconsin parents felt that this was a sublime song about the pride flag, they felt that their children were too young to learn about gay stuff so they forbid the song.

So the teachers recommended Rainbow Connection, but the parents were unhappy with this too. Probably? They think rainbows are gay. It's incredibly stupid and painful, I know. The teachers met with the parents, and they decided there wasn't anything gay about Rainbow Connection, and the children will sing it at their recital.

This is a tale of bigotry. The sad part is that Dolly's song is actually for these narrow-minded parents. The funny part is that while they were reviewing the lyrics for Rainbow Connection, trying to find the gay content, they missed an important detail.

It is sung by a frog and a pig who are lovers.

This was great. Was kind of hoping Animal would just be like four minutes straight of grunting and heavy breathing, but was not disappointed by the lyrics instead.

OK, that was excellent! Am clearly the target audience. Laughed out loud despite myself at Miss Piggy getting the green
