Listen to Wikipedia

Listen to the sound of Wikipedia's recent changes feed. (English, French, Sanskrit selected - you can choose your own filters).

I stumbled upon this on Tumblr and I fell in love.

Bells indicate additions and string plucks indicate subtractions. Pitch changes according to the size of the edit; the larger the edit, the deeper the note.

If you aren't hearing much, make sure to toggle 'enable sound' in the top right-ish menu bar.

Surprisingly pleasant. I wonder how straightforward it would be to hook this up to any given Related Changes / public watchlist feed?

Check all the boxes and then walk away and do some dishes. It's like listening to Brian Eno on meth.

And for those who may be hearing impaired, there is also a graphical representation via circles (I assume with diameters representative of size of edit and colour scheme for additions/subtractions).

This is great. I only wish we could get square waves for automated edits and clown horn noises for vandalism reversions
