Beweging is Leven! (Movement is Life)

Beweging Is Leven is an eldercare initiative by Azmi Alubeid & Joël Kruisselbrink and it's the most charming, clever, and funny use of every-day objects and whatever is around. Seriously, the videos are just the best. By far the most content seems to be in Instagram so these are Instagram links I'm afraid! But so worth it. posted by Zumbador (6 comments total) 30 users marked this as a favorite

This is great, I'd sign up for that living! From some experience, I'm going to guess that staff at assisted living places is in general super caring and kind. (Of course they need better pay, and more help.) But a few terrible examples tinge it with fear, sort of like the way there might be a few terrible surgeons or elementary schools out there.

So, if I'm there someday, I expect the staff will be delighted with my weekly series of silly games and pranks!

Assistive technology / occupational therapy hacks are the best!

I have been watching his videos for a while now. They remind me of when we played games with our toddlers, using whatever we could find around the house. In both cases, you are working on dexterity and movement while also having fun.

He doesn't come across as condescending: the people he's working with either laugh, or frown in concentration. It's kind of inspiring.

So fantastic. I have a friend whose niece was doing recreational things with the elderly. I have to send this to her, she'll love it.

This is wonderful! I love how invested everyone is in these athletic endeavors. I have an elderly parent who is increasingly hard to get moving, so his TikTok looks like a great resource.
