The Pig Racing Woodland Finals! [16m] was enough of a curious title that I had to click on it when YouTube put it in front of me. Apparently this is the finale of the NINTH season of pig racing, so it's a bit like starting with the final chapter, but it only made me want to go back and watch more. The League Of Pigs YouTube Page has over 100 videos of adorable piggy action for any others who might also be interested.

Each season is 3-4 videos of under an hour total runtime.

Growing up, I worked at an old money country club outside of Chicago. They decided to do pig races one summer as a kitschy event for the membership. Earlier in the day, people could pop by and meet the pigs before the big event.

The only incident all day? An Armour heiress was bit by a pig.

Well at least, in contrast to athletics in general but similar to snooker, there's a statistical sample with pig racing. The same crew race several times against each other and the winner is the best overall. In the Olympics, one person wins gold on the basis of a single trial with all the noise inherent in small samples.
Gotta say, though, that giving points 10 for 1st; 7 for 2nd; 5 for 3rd ; 3 for 4th ; 1 for 5th is arbitrary and I bet sometimes there'd be a different result if the points were 10 : 8 : 6 : 4 : 2. Still if all the participants, & their trainers, coaches, publicists, masseurs, sponsors and followers agree before then there can't be gripes afterwards.

I appreciate the participant profiles they do. It's like to get to know them a little.
