I'm so glad this video is only 9 minutes long, because I always drop what I'm doing to watch these.

Thanks for posting. Does anyone know if there are videos featuring all of the entries, not just the top 100?

I love it when one of the clips subverts the common template out of nowhere. So creative!

Wow, it’s wild to me that all this CG power is accessible to individuals. Growing up, any ONE of these ALONE would have fuelled a billion dreams and ambitions.

(Those two thoughts are maybe not obviously connected, the accessibility and the sheer volume of imagination and execution on display. I think about the way, e.g. the CG in Lawnmower Man stuck with me, or any of those other early CG demos. I remember how awed I was when I saw some basic ray-traced primitives sitting on a checkered plane on, I don’t know, one of my dad’s math manuals or something, and understanding that *computers made that image.* The simple imagery was enough to leave a mark, as was the knowledge that our home computer could *never* render that.)

Man, I thought I was cool facing down Handsome Jack. This stuff makes me take a step back. Was that the Iron Giant as a boss? I need to go play some Stardew Valley.

I find it interesting to note a common thread. A huge majority of these follow the template of one guy versus one really big guy. A few managed to do one guy versus a somewhat-bigger-but-not-gargantuan guy. Unless I missed something, not a single one was something like "one guy versus a thousand tiny guys" which is kind of amazing. Either the rules of the contest specified that constraint, or somehow nobody thought to buck the trend.

axiom: I was thinking that too! I was imagining how frustrating and novel it could be to have a boss level where the challenge is that the boss is really tiny and difficult to hit while still being malevolent.... I've never seen a tiny boss before though.
