Damn, I wish I understood Spanish...

I have four children. Several of them are freaky and bizarre, and hold opinions, I just don't get. They are all awesome. Be who you are has always been my main tenet, and my kids are doing that. I might not get it, but I am now an old. You go kids! Make the world a more interesting place!

The Playing For Change group has a sister foundation that works with arts education programs for kids worldwide. One of those groups is Turnaround Arts, a group devoted to developing arts education in the US, with different artists devoting themselves to promote arts education in their own communities. And - by "artists", I don't only mean, like, the local juggling troupe or whatever; Cameron Diaz is overseeing the program at a Florida school, Josh Groban has a school in Chicago, Trombone Shorty works with TWO New Orleans programs.

Playing for Change has done two videos celebrating the program and its participants, some celebrities but mostly kids jamming to songs alongside the grownups and having a blast. (Misty Copeland and this other kid have a whole routine in one video and look like they are having a blast.)

This is a good post, it's been a tough week and I'm glad to start my Saturday grinning.

I love Colt Clark and the Quarantine Kids. It's so cool to see how much the kids have learned over the last three years.

David Rees used to do a series where he'd pick a song and find dozens of amateur covers of it on YouTube and then rave about the pure joy his favorite ones offered the world.

He called it Friday Face Offs and I'd love to find something else like it because it always gave me so much joy.

This post gave me lots of joy too (thanks 2N2222!), but there's just something about seeing a dozen different people/groups having fun with the same song in their own different ways.

Loved the music, particularly Virgenes del Sol.

On the post title, though: I'm sure there's a nonzero intersection of {people who are musical prodigies}, {people who are children} and {people who are all right}. But it doesn't intersect with {people I know}.
