To me, Edward Wood was the Orson Welles of low budget pictures.

The Haunted World Of Edward D Wood Jr [1995, 1h52m] is a documentary about the indefatigable filmmaker of much regrettable redoubtable renown. Also features many of those who conspired in his cinematic crimes.

For several years, I was a friend of the late Conrad Brooks. I'd buy corned beef sandwiches and Dr. Brown's soda in Baltimore and drive out of town to Conrad's trailer—there were no Jewish delis way out there—and he'd tell me stories about Ed and the old days in Hollywood.

I also appeared in one of Conrad's movies, which makes me a mere two Bacon degrees from Bela Lugosi.

We live on a street called Edwood and there's a house I walk by where I can see an Ed Wood poster on the wall, through the window. It makes me happy.

With the right presenter this could have been Edward Woodward’s Edward Wood.

In case anyone doesn't know: Ed Wood "is a 1994 American biographical comedy-drama film directed and produced by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp as Ed Wood, the eponymous cult filmmaker."

It's interesting to hear both sides of the Dolores Fuller/Loretta King story - the movie essentially takes the side that Wood gave King Fuller's part to try and get some money, and King herself says this never happened.
