I've just discovered Panic Shack...

... and I'm already a huge fan. Seems to me they've got all the tight riffs, humour and attitude of the best early punk bands. Here's some of their videos so you can judge for yourself: Meal Deal; I Don't Really Like It: Jiu Jit You. Finally, here's The Ick again, this time as the band's official video.

I was in Cardiff last weekend, and asked the owner of an indie record shop to recommend a good local band someone from outside the town (like me) might not have heard of yet. He instantly mentioned Panic Shack, and I'm very glad he did. They've been around since 2018, but so far only got one EP and a few singles out, so we're not too far behind the curve here.

Meal Plan reminds me a bit of Pub Feed by Australian band The Chats (similar food themes and musical approach).

I like this, thanks for posting!
Gonna reassign some of my date-from-hell stories to The Ick folder.

similar food themes

Not just food.

Who's Got My Lighter
Mum Stole My Darts

and if Panic Shack's bass player wasn't deliberately paying homage to the Eamon Sandwith Bowl Mullet in the Meal Deal video, I'll go he.

Here's a February NME interview with the band.

“There’s a new confidence that comes to you as a woman as you grow older, and we all needed to realise that,” says Lawrence. “We used to go to gigs and see boys in bands and think, ‘Surely it isn’t that hard…” Smith jumps in: “It’s all bravado! When you start paying attention at gigs, you can think to yourself, ‘I can fucking do that.’” And so they did: Harvey honed her confidence as a vocalist at weekly karaoke nights, while the rest of the band taught themselves how to play their instruments in under a year. Soon enough, a brilliant new punk force was born.

Love it! Thanks muchly for posting this.

If you like this band, then I think there's an excellent chance that (like me) you will also dig Destroy Boys. Reminds me of a lot of my favorite punk from back in the Day (as we called it then.) They put on a raging live show, too.
