I crave drama and this link is a feast of delightful references! Most of them I know, being a shameless, popcorn-eating internet rubber necker, but I didn't know about bribery cupcakes!

In any case, I'm gonna have to reread everything to make sure I remember all the gasp-worthy moments. Cheers!

Hm, I didn't come up with a lock thing when I clicked on it. But that said, I literally just thought, "hey, someone should post this to Metafilter," and now here it is!

The story about "I nearly got fired when the person who stole my spicy lunch accused me of trying to kill them" is still my very favorite I don't think anyone can top it.

I don’t get a popup on Tumblr, but none of the images load, not even in the Unlocked link.

However, I realized halfway through that I was somehow low on vanilla despite obsessively buying fancy vanilla extract every time I am in a spice shop, along with a bunch of other things I don't need because buying cool spices makes me feel like a wizard.

Feeling better about my Penzeys problem, and intrigued by the author's own (non-theme) cider bread w/maple butter recipe.

What are they using all those teapots for if not for holiday dinners?

Thanksgiving was good, there was shared adversity due to equipment malfunctions. We triumphed, we cooked, we feasted! Good times.

The day after was less great, one of the senior relatives dropped an ethnic slur into conversation for funsies. (Probably not dementia - they waited until the non-WASPs were gone and then tried to invoke the rule that it's fine as long as no-one the slur applies to is in earshot.) I didn't yell, and made the whole thing real awkward when they doubled down, and they shut up, so I guess that's a win? But ugh, I feel dirty.

I spent the weekend at home alone, cleaning and putting up holiday decorations and not bothering to get dressed. That was pretty great and I wish I could do more of that. (I have it penciled in for New Years Day at least.)

Mods: This link should work without the whiny popup - it'll throw a suggestion you log in at the bottom, but shouldn't block the text:

Mod note: Couple of comments removed that weren't considerate and respectful. Please avoid starting off a thread with needless negativity and or responding to such comments with insults.

Link in post changed to one that hopefully doesn't produce a popup
