Red Barchetta popped up on SiriusXM right about this time yesterday and for about the 1,000th time in my life, I played air drums like a clueless lunatic the whole way through. Clearly, I need this video. Thanks, swift!

Amazing. The first few minutes of that video, the time signature is so flippin out there that I can barely parse a rhythm. Then he drops into a 4/4 but the fills are just whackadoodle.

But, TBH, I got bored after about four minutes, like most drum solos.

I put this on and then absent-mindedly got back to work, forgetting to turn the video off on my personal laptop... and basically had the most productive 30 minutes of my life! Wrote a whole two pages of a report I'm working on, I mean, WHAT. Is this what people mean when they say music helps them to focus? It's never worked for me before because the music itself distracts me. But apparently pure percussion brings the magic. Huh.

Somebody please give me more of this? or maybe I'll just play this on a loop forever? Look out, world, here comes SUPERWRITER.

I mean this is why I like minimal techno and dub techno and stuff without lyrics, vocals or even melody going on. See if this does anything for you.

It's odd to think of him as "practicing" like I practiced when I was learning piano. He's so fluid, it doesn't seem like he'd need to practice. Of course he did, he was skilled, you don't just walk onto a stage and drum like that, but... it just doesn't feel like he had to.
