Great video of Tom Francis singing "Sunset Boulevard" as he makes his way into the Royal Albert Hall for the 2024 Olivier Awards show.

Wow, what an entrance. When it began I assumed that the outdoor part was filmed separately—I mean, what if it had been pelting down rain? Or he stumbled. Or any of the myriad of things that could go wrong since I can’t walk and chew gum at the same time.

I'm so excited about this coming to NYC soon. I saw a great concert version and completely forgot it wasn't fully staged.

I know that live musical adaptations of movies get a lot of flack but this works and doesn't feel like an awkward cash grab. Something cool about seeing period costumes and set in person, but I understand this is a "time-less" version that keeps things simple.

Also can't wait to see what weird shit this actor encounters trying to sing outside in the theater district, with guards of course. Hopefully nothing more dangerous than people twerking or tourists asking for directions!

For those of us relatively unaware of musical theater, were the two individuals (and cardboard cutout) in the hallway people theater fans would recognize?

The cardboard cut-out was Andrew Lloyd Webber. I assume the other two people were SB cast members (playing Betty and Max?) since Nicole Scherzinger was also part of the routine.

Nicole's acceptance speech for Best Actress was all over the place (in a good way!) and very endearing.
