I don't care if it's the greatest operating system in the world.. It's still got a stupid name:
Doesn't Bell Labs' Plan 9 OS remind you of Ed Wood's Plan 9 from Outer Space?

Isn't it supposed to remind you of that movie? I propoese the next greatest operating system in the world be named after Russ Meyer films - Barbarellix anyone?

Russ Meyer didn't do Barbarella, it was Roger Vadim. Instead how about BeYond TVOD 2.0 Here's the IMDB on Russ Meyer.The bio says he was the son of a policeman and a nurse...

It was named in honor of the movie -- Bell Labs loves to pick weird names for its projects (see also Inferno and Limbo). See the FAQ.
