Orson Welles is fine and dandy, but my favorite War of the Worlds is still the Jeff Wayne double album, with Richard Burton narrating. Scared the hell out of me when I was a kid, and the tunes are still pompous funky art rock fun. Ulllllaaa!

Nothing in my area unfortunately. No TV and would have loved to hear it. Shame.

Lampshade, sounds like they are constantly updating who is going to be broadcasting it. May want to continue to check back with the site.

Post event comment:

I spent an hour listening to this last night. It would have been better spent re-listening to muckster's recommendation. I purchased Jeff Wayne double album on vinyl when it first debuted and later purchased the CDs, it's one of the best narrative stories produced. Ulllllaaa indeed.

I'd also recommend the ZBS Jack Flanders' "Fourth Tower of Inverness" (this thread) although it is a much longer listen and suitably surreal.
