Akiyoshi's illusion pages. This japanese psychology professor has been collecting and developing geometric optical illusions, some of which are found on the streets [inc. Brighton, UK!], notably he is inspired by traditional japanese design and architecture. NB: Though not exactly Friday Flash, the emphasis on clour & motion illusion prompts Akiyoshi to warn: "Caution: This page contains some works of "anomalous motion illusion", which might make sensitive observers dizzy or sick. Should you feel dizzy, you had better leave this page immediately." How polite!

I'm freaking oouuuuut! If I see him on the street, I'll punch him in the mouth for you. Can you imagine sitting in front of the computer constructing these things? I'd go mad. posted by planetkyoto at 7:27 AM on November 8, 2002

For anyone who cares, the shop is 'Click Click Whirly Beep Beep' [I'm not kidding] on the corner of Trafalger St & Pelham St just 'round the corner from where I'm sitting now.
BTW, scrolling up & down past 'Primrose's field' & 'The autumn color swamp' is pretty trippy... posted by i_cola at 8:17 AM on November 8, 2002
