Great link, thanks plep. I'd never heard of Friends-Partners.org. Cool concept ("Welcome to Friends and Partners, jointly developed by friends in the US and Russia to promote better understanding between the people of our countries."), with lots of interesting personal accounts & photos to look through.

Bookmarked at the speed of light. I thought I knew a lot about Russia, but I've been learning more just browsing the site (for instance, the information about the distribution of dachas and size of land grants here). Great stories and pictures; great post. You are far and away the best linkhound on the internet!

I remember this site from 5 years ago, when I was preparing to go study in Russia. Another early photo-blog that I bookmarked (and also haven't read in about a year) is Wayan's weekly photojournal: Russia, written by an expat in Moscow (who has since left.) It's also a very deep site
