Wow. I'd love to see what they come up with. I'm submitting something I've done -- it's just a matter of choosing a song now. Thanks for this link. posted by pinto at 10:22 PM on June 5, 2003
Nice, I've uploaded a song too. It's kind of cool to see a list of "all" electro/acoustic genres together. New age alongside Turntable, for instance. The first is regarded as kind of geeky and pathetic, and the second is the latest fad. One noticable ommission is "dub" though - maybe that's counted under "tape music"? posted by Jimbob at 10:35 PM on June 5, 2003
I doubt this is a definitive list by anyone's standards but it is an interesting list. What is missing besides dub? posted by gen at 10:54 PM on June 5, 2003
"Drone" maybe? Although once again, that might be integrated within, say, "Sinewave", "Ambient" or "Granular". posted by Jimbob at 11:00 PM on June 5, 2003
drill n bass isn't there.... nor glitch hop,....
thanks for the link... I uploaded one from my band Ice Cream Creatures, which we describe as ambient-electronic-glitchy-guitar ballads, or beach boys vs. Aphex Twin, or something...
Hear it here, at metafilter music. posted by Espoo2 at 11:24 PM on June 5, 2003
sounds like some great courses there, too... I wish I could have taken something like that. posted by Espoo2 at 11:27 PM on June 5, 2003
Some of those are just made up, surely? Or perhaps I don't know what I'm listening to. posted by walrus at 6:20 AM on June 6, 2003
