I'm sort of surprised that they've left out three candidates -- Gephart, Kucinich and Mosely Braun. On many polls each ranks much higher than, say, Al Sharpton, so it's strange that they'd skip them. The "web presence" numbers on Googlerace's election web trends page are also a bit confusing -- I was able to find plenty of sites about Gephart and Mosely Braun, yet they're both listed as having zero web presence. posted by me3dia at 12:38 PM on November 17, 2003
"This site is not affiliated with Google, and is brought to you by Eyebeam R&D"
Maybe, m3dia, the creators of the site had trouble spelling the other candidates' names (I know I do). Or maybe their web widget bogged down with more than 7 candidates to compare, and they wanted to make sure Sharpton was in "for entertainment value". I sure can't take this too seriously..
BTW, for "Wendell", Kerry was #1 and Sharpton #2.
For "fuckwit", Gen. Clark was #1 and Sharpton #2.
For "quonsar", it was a landslide for Sharpton. posted by wendell at 12:43 PM on November 17, 2003
Well obviously it's for entertainment purposes, but it's still strange. Especially since many people see Gephart as a top-tier candidate for Iowa, at least. I can't imagine that 10 seraches vs. 7 would make much of a difference, beyond a slightly slower result return. posted by me3dia at 12:48 PM on November 17, 2003
Interestingly, searches on sex, boogers, hair and stupid all come up Sharpton. This seems definitive - guess I know who'll get my vote. posted by Pressed Rat at 1:00 PM on November 17, 2003

He certainly won't be the top-tier write-in candidate. posted by alms at 1:23 PM on November 17, 2003
