Wow. It makes me wonder how much the latest (i.e., classified) satellites can see.
Couldn't find any climbers on El Capitan. I figured they would be visible, but maybe not. Or maybe mid-October isn't El Capitan season... posted by whatnotever at 10:14 PM on March 2, 2004
Awesome, but whoever coined the term "zoomify" needs to be slapped. posted by mrbula at 10:52 PM on March 2, 2004

I missed the first thread. This is awesome. When I noticed how close one could zoom it became even cooler. Like Crash said, the full sizes are awesome too! Nice post. cheers. posted by terrapin at 3:40 AM on March 3, 2004
Also, congrats to the site developers for allowing fast zoom and pan WITHOUT reloading the page each time like other map-style sites. posted by jsonic at 6:09 AM on March 3, 2004

whatnotever: Ikonos is 1m resolution. The KH-11 -- the previous generation military satellite is about 10cm. The current generation is unknown outside of classified circles, but it might not be much better than the KH-11, because the images that have to be downlinked are enormous even at that resolution. posted by cameldrv at 2:46 AM on March 4, 2004
