Check out the new Netscape home page. They're showing three different designs right now, upon reloading either www.netscape.com or home.netscape.com, I'm seeing these designs: old one, new one #1, and new one #2. I like the new one #1 the most. There's probably more stuff on the page than there was before, but it's organized better. It's nice to see someone doing something different than the snap/metacrawler/go/altavista portal madness, I like the new ones a lot better than the old one.

I definitely prefer the new look as well. It's still a bit boggling when you're trying to locate something for the first few times. There are so many competing layers of seemingly equal importance, differentiated only by a subtle color change. It's a hell of a lot of information to cram into that space I'll admit. Strange though, I can't seem to view the new version using my Mac. It must be a Windows-only soft launch. No matter what version of browser I try, regardless of whether or not I clear my cache and cookies, I still see the old page. Odd.

Someone on a weblist figured out the hard coded URLs for the new designs:
http://www.netscape.com/index_a.html
http://www.netscape.com/index_b.html
http://www.netscape.com/index_c.html

note that the "a" and "b" links are almost exact, as far as I can tell, the only difference is the text size in the upper left box.

An astute observer would look at these designs, and the current mozilla UI and
make some interesting connections.

good point, it may be hard to discern where the mozilla browser window ends and the new netscape page begins, they share similar color schemes, iconic graphics, and layouts.
