Analogia - You upload your face and complex recognition software returns three celebrities you most resemble. Which are you? The software is surprisingly accurate! (Marginally NSFW: thumb nailed obscenity)

Shockingly accurate, even.

I just laughed my gaping monstrous asshole off. Oh man.

Lafffffff, definitely an Affleck impersonator.

uh... complex joke trypty, but believe it or not there are still folks that have chosen not to gaze upon goatse man. A more comprehensive warning might have been appropriate (although joke-spoiling).

On preview, something like cortex's note. Anyhoo.

Goatse is never "marginally" NSFW, even thumbnailed.

Not cool at all.

Wonderful. You've taken a website that thinks I look like either Scott Baio or Jackie Chan and turned it into something horrible,

hah! hilarious. this is the funniest FPP in a while.

AnalogiaFilter for that marginal NSFW link.

I can't get it to work on a Mac.

I would say that Goatsex thumbnails are significantly NSFW

As to the post itself, the results I got were:

Denzel Washington
Willem Dafoe
Val Kilmer

so I think perhaps the site needs a little more work in its algorithms.

Who knew the Fonz looked like Dolph Lundgren?
posted by fatbobsmith at 6:29 PM on April 16, 2004

It says I look Scott Baio, Jacki Chan and Alec Baldwin.

And I had to fire up virtual PC to get it to work since it doesn't seem to like Macs at all.
posted by birdherder at 6:36 PM on April 16, 2004

it doesn't work for me either.

I have this friend who's always telling me I look like Ralph Fiennes. So I gave this thing a try - and it agrees with him!

This Guy: Al Pacino, Takeshi Kaneshiro, George Clooney.

No way.

OK, Dolph Lundgren I recognize, but who the hell are these other two prettyboys?

One wishes they would just say up front that it doesn't work with Macs -- or that they would spell the word "right" correctly in their dialogue boxes.

Mine was pretty far off, seeing as I'm almost a dead ringer for Anthony Edwards.
posted by sciurus at 7:32 PM on April 16, 2004

you really do, sciurus.

Since it won't work on my mac, I'll just pretend 3 devastatingly handsome men popped up for mine.
posted by amberglow at 7:34 PM on April 16, 2004

Hmm, doesn't work for me at all, in Mozilla or Safari.
posted by Mars Saxman at 7:38 PM on April 16, 2004

It worked for me on Mac OS X running the latest Opera 7 preview. I had to right click the unloaded image and select "open image" twice but it finally fully loaded my face.

It said I looked like: Scott Baio, Gabriel Batistuta, and Rutget Hauer.

Me neither. Tried Safari, tried Mac IE 5.something.

Yes, that is correct. Both me AND my cat look like Sean Connery. The cat also looks like Charles Bronson.

I should not have done this...

or this...

OR this.

Ralph Fiennes? Sure i can live with that.
Christopher Reeve??? FUCK YOU, WEBSITE.

I don't know about this thing, I submittd pictures of two friends of mine who couldn't look more different, one asian, tiny features, flat-ish face and the other eastern european, big nose and features, and it said they both look like someone named Chi Hsu .

Space Coyote: If it's like most face recognition, it's appraising the distances between the features, not anything like the contours. And face-wise, in the more subtle ways Eastern Europeans are far closer to Asians than, say, the French ;)

What's going on? Although the Analogia page is Google cached, I get "site not found" when trying it live, and the root page for gabitus.com leads to the Chearsley Times, a UK village website.
