Show Me Your Motor!"Some guy once said he had an awesome car he imported from Japan. No one believed him so we said "take a picture of a carton of milk, bread, and a sign that says "Initial D World" or "IDW" in your passenger seat". He responded saying "Ok, when I get milk tomorrow". We never heard from him again but it has evolved into doing it on the hood instead." Tradition! Tradition!Car traditions! [Via AlexChat]

Yeah. Okay. Just put the milk down and back away from your car. Everything is going to be just fine. posted by grateful at 11:46 AM on June 14, 2004
I don't get it at all. posted by xmutex at 11:49 AM on June 14, 2004
Which was the original picture though? posted by PWA_BadBoy at 11:57 AM on June 14, 2004
xmutex: North American bread and milk would be hard to get in Japan, so if the car was imported and in this guy's possession, it wouldn't be hard to take a picture of the car with the bread and milk.
You can fake it (mailing milk carton and bread packaging to Japan, organizing a picture to be taken of the car), but then you're going to a lot more trouble it is worth.
Unless you're confused about why everybody else started taking these pictures? posted by sleslie at 12:01 PM on June 14, 2004

Neat, but why not just take a picture of the car that shows the steering wheel on the opposite side? posted by armage at 1:52 PM on June 14, 2004
...though the thought occurs to me that Japanese imported cars could have world-standard left-side steering wheels.
But that would take the fun out of it all. posted by armage at 1:56 PM on June 14, 2004
