Ah,yes -- 'ol icky, or as the Japanese would say, Utatsusaurus hataii. Nevada's oldest mascot, corporate flack for the Great Basin Brewing Company, and one of the coolest NPC bosses in Half-Life (scroll down, please). No less than Stephen Jay Gould and William Least Heat Moon have rhapsodised upon the ghostly remnants of this once great beast. After more than 240 million years, it's time to get your icky porn on.

"The strange thing is that they were not fish at all: they were reptiles like lizards, snakes, and crocodiles. You can easily tell this by looking at the skull and fins. A similar case is known for mammals too: think about dolphins and whales."

Cool link hama7!

No, the strange thing is not that they were reptiles. The strange thing is that Jurassic Park was playing on USA when I found I saw this link.

There's a great image of Mary Anning on this Ichthyosaur page. Young Mary excavated the first icky fossil at the age of 12, and went on to make more historic discoveries, thereby becoming the inspiration for the famous children's tongue twister, "She sells seashells by the seashore".
