Collaborate! Photography website. Have you ever wanted to be an art director or are you a photographer looking for an assignment? The Collaborate website lets art directors and photographers connect over the internet and work on creating a photograph. Are there similar photo collaboration sites out there that people know of?

Ouch. Two hours, no comments. Well screw you Mefi! You're all a bunch of provincial loners anyway.

Just to add a post to this lonely thread. I have no real idea how an art director/photographer interact. I guess I'd always thought photographers were their own directors.

One person acts as the Photographer and the other as the Art Director/Digital Artist. They email each other about the shoot they would like to do and exchange ideas. The photographer then goes out and shoots the collaborative idea and sends the photos to the Art Director/Digital Artist. The Art Director puts the final touches on the photo digitally to create the mood/style and convey the desired message of their collaborative project. Once the project is finalized they send their best 3 photos to collaborateproject@yahoo.com with their information and they will be exhibited on this page for everyone to see.

Or you could just stay home and watch Bonanza reruns. I know which one I'll be doing.

Well, in most cases an art director has a general image in mind for an upcoming article/project and will say to the photographer: "We're doing a piece on retirement, go down to the harbor and get me a picture of an old man sailing a boat at sunset" (Or something similar). The photographer, getting her assignment, will then try to capture that image in her own style.

I found the neat thing about this project was using the internet to collaborate with people across the world. It'd be kinda cool to have an image in mind (There's some examples at the site of a Tokyo subway) and have someone work on the image with you, bringing their own sensibilities, skills, etc.

Jeeze, jeremias, some of us have to work. I like the idea of virtual cooperation, too, but I am not sure how I would feel having a picture of my mother rearranged by a stranger.

Nice post.
