It looks like the design would put undue stress on your back if it were to be riden for a long period of time or uphill.
Still, it looks cool. Amd I like the Amish triangle reflective safety sign. posted by astern at 6:39 PM on December 11, 2004
Fun post. Thanks, mcwetboy.

For this, I would pay to see.
And, I'm going to have a second look at Gadling. posted by jaronson at 6:44 PM on December 11, 2004
Very cool. Reminds me of the motorized picnic table. A friend of mine swore she saw one of these at a bikerfest in Northern Ontario. I thought to myself, 'that's awesome-- you can go for more beer and you don't even have to get up.' You could apply the same 'I want a beer but I don't want to get up' principle to the couchbike, which has the added advantage of being environmentally sound. posted by Fuzzy Monster at 7:10 PM on December 11, 2004
Or you could tow a couch. posted by jjj606 at 7:23 PM on December 11, 2004
Wow. I'm so envious. I've got a thru-hike in me that I've got to get out (PCT, maybe), but I might be able to substitute, say, a trip across Virginia on a couchbike. Erm...maybe some place flatter. Kansas, say. posted by waldo at 7:48 PM on December 11, 2004
That's really cool - it'd fit right in at Burning Man. posted by Mars Saxman at 8:04 PM on December 11, 2004

This is nice. I could see renting these out to tourists.
I wonder how much off road stuff they've actually done. Like any wide fire road descents or speed runs? I wonder if they've got a bloopers video? posted by fenriq at 8:24 PM on December 11, 2004
Here's a nice gasoline-powered couch my friends and I made this summer. (semi-self-link: I mirrored Scott's gallery) posted by breath at 11:07 PM on December 11, 2004
