I wasn't aware internet people existed who hadn't seen this yet.

I followed a link off that page and learned that Richard Biggs, who played Dr. Franklin on Babylon 5, died suddenly of heart failure in May, 2004. I had not known this, and now I am sad.

I do like the photos though. I would like to see a fresh set of new winners.

Sorry folks, search came up clean - guess I didn't set the date range correctly.

There's always some bald, jowled man who resembles his bulldog.

These photos are ancient in internet-time, but I don't know if they've ever been on Metafilter before. Still amusing, though.

I've never seen those before: fun.

Call me crazy, but those people sort of look like their dogs!
posted by ORthey at 11:05 AM on January 11, 2005

Do people submit these themselves? I can't figure how they all got the same backgroud unless they photoshopped the pictures or invited them all in for studio sessions.

If the pictures are photoshopped then the whole thing is much less enjoyable from some perspective, although it makes it a bit more technically interesting.

these are pro photos from an ad campaign for dog food - that's why they all look the same, four.
posted by gnutron at 11:26 AM on January 11, 2005

I believe this was some sort of marketing campaign for "caesar dinners" or something. So, no, four flavors, the whole conceit is contrived.

funny though.

I believe it was an ad campaign, so it may not really be their dogs. Not sure about photoshopping, it could just be good casting & photography.

yeah, what elwoodwiles said.

Awww....that greyhound reminded me of my late, great Trailways (RIP March 1, 2004, age 12 1/2)

I think some of these pictures are altered anyway, namely the third and fourth (the greyhound guy's eyes are unnaturally big, but it could be the lens or something too)

It wasn't a doublepost, lilboo, just old news (ca. 2000).

lilboo, this is old-ish stuff, sure, but man did I need this laugh today. Thanks!

I understand Cesar has been thinking of changing his name to Mr. Dog.
