Bernard Shaw to retire. I guess the election foo-faraw was too much for him. :-)

Now you've made me think of Kent Brockman:"Tonight, on Smartline. The Power plant strike. Argle bargle, or fooforaw?''

Also, I once saw Shaw covering Bush's 'education summit' (what a joke that was) during my brief attendance of UVA. Someone asked him for his article and he refused. "I'm not an entertainer, I'm a journalist!" he said, which I thought was pretty cool. . .

At the "Iraqi Crisis" town hall meeting in Ohio in Feb(?) '98, he kept yelling at protesters during commercial breaks.

Bernard Shaw, from my extensive observation, is an idiot. During the Dem convention, he capped a discussion of the ongoing protests by delivering a eulogy for the shrubs that had been uprooted to prepared for the convention. "As a gardener, that hurts," he said. There were three other people on the panel, and they all looked at him as if he just announced that he wasn't wearing any pants. Hell, maybe he wasn't.

I just knew, somehow, that the first post I'd get on this would be about foo-foraw.
