Ourmedia needs your help

Ourmedia needs volunteer moderators. Ourmedia, which provides "free storage and free bandwidth for your videos, audio files, photos, text or software" is doing well. Too well. The current volunteer moderator team of 40 is faced with the overwhelming task of reviewing the submitted content of 40,000 users for copyright and other policy violations, on which their open submission policy depends. If you'd like to get involved, now would be the time.

Oh you wacky brits, no wonder people watch Big Brother over there -- you actually get sluts who do things with wine bottles. Thank you Our Media, as I never would have seen this debauchery without you.

While the help/moderators page goes into good detail regarding a moderator's duties, there's no indication of the prerequisites or suggesitons for someone that might want to volunteer. Considering that this is multimedia, do you need a broadband connection (T1 or better, or is cable sufficient)? Do you have to be familiar with the UK market? Do you need to live in the UK?

I'd be interested just because I'm a control freak, and I like to view random media, but I don't know if I would qualify at all.

Oh you wacky brits

Man, that's why British lasses are so much hotter than their American counterparts. A little bottle-sitting, a quick smoke, maybe a cup of tea, and off to bed with you.

Small side-note: isn't Big Brother copywritten material?

Now you see why we need more moderators: because sometimes stuff like this gets through.

The only real requirement is that you speak English well, and that's about it. Broadband helps immensely, but you can always just watch the RSS feeds and flag items. No need to have a firm grasp on US copyright law (which is really really tricky since Fair Use is such a gray area), just flag things you might think are violations and the lead mods will deal with it.

BTW, the item previously mentioned has now been removed from Ourmedia and made inaccessible at the Internet Archive.

I wouldn't mind helping to fix their apparent MySQL problems...
