Thank you for posting this today, matteo. Jackie Robinson is one of my heroes, both as an athlete and as a man. His teammate Roy Campanella, too.

Why did he write a letter to Kennedy on "Chock Full 'o Nuts" stationery? Am I missing something by only ideftifying that brand with coffee?

Robinson worked as VP of Personnel for the coffee bean company, until he was forced to resign for his political activities (such as writing letters to President Kennedy on company letterhead).

OT (notice the phone number, MUrray Hill 2-0500, does anyone else remember exchange names, or being able to dial a friend with just four digits instead of ten?)

caddis, there's a great Italian restaurant in the West Village, that still has their exchange name number printed on the front of their menus. My dad and my uncle were remembering their exchange numbers at Xmas when I last saw them.
