Can't help but wonder, though, about copyright issues. I mean, I am something of a budding cartoonist, and were I to draw one of my characters on this site, and someone else were to get it and perhaps use it for themselves, I'd probably have little recourse, wouldn't I? Best to stick to doodles of non-descript household items then, methinks. posted by Effigy2000 at 5:48 AM on February 11, 2006
But I can't draw! I suppose I can't participate in this site. I mean, I could draw a rather poor representation of something but then whoever got the picture might feel a bit cheated. posted by mokey at 5:59 AM on February 11, 2006
I drew Muhammad and swapped it for a cute picture of Simba. posted by thirteenkiller at 6:00 AM on February 11, 2006
Pretty cool. Sorry to whoever got my pointless doodle, because I got an awesome picture of a pirate at sea with a serpent!
I like the ephemeral nature, that pictures exist purely for the moment their receiver views them. Shame you only get one dull browny colour though. posted by MetaMonkey at 6:04 AM on February 11, 2006
I need an eraser ! posted by lobstah at 6:31 AM on February 11, 2006
I was thinking about posting this myself. Maybe eventually they'll add a small color palette or at least an eraser, but I guess the idea is kind of like, you're just doodling on a bar napkin or something like that; you don't have a whole set of Faber's colored pencils and so forth.
Last time I tried it, I got a Che sketch in return. It was really good. posted by Gator at 6:48 AM on February 11, 2006
Fun.
And no Flash objections yet! posted by juiceCake at 6:55 AM on February 11, 2006
i did a special 'jesus was a pirate' and all i got was some squiggle saying 'hmmm'
Don't worry about your less-than-stellar doodles. The people behind the site look at every picture before it's put in the trade queue, and are apparently working on separating the wheat from the chaff, so to speak. posted by Robot Johnny at 7:32 AM on February 11, 2006
I swapped a mefi hi for a google weirdness notepaper pic. posted by artifarce at 7:34 AM on February 11, 2006
How DO they approve every one before they send it? Wow. :/ posted by artifarce at 7:41 AM on February 11, 2006
The temptation to draw rude pictures was just too much. Why does this type of site always bring out the 13 year old in me? posted by greycap at 8:50 AM on February 11, 2006
I drew three little cartoons and received three cartoons of a laptop, a computer and someone drawing on a laptop. Originality people! posted by jamesonandwater at 9:16 AM on February 11, 2006
I got an angry turtle. posted by krix at 10:02 AM on February 11, 2006
I sent a dinosaur and got a very rough box containing what appear to be train tracks. posted by brundlefly at 11:35 AM on February 11, 2006
I made an insane pear with wings and an eye, got a monkey back, signed "killer"!
If you see any pears, they're probably mine. shouldn't they be saving these? posted by BlackLeotardFront at 2:48 PM on February 11, 2006
What a totally cute site. I love how you get to watch the process as the drawing develops. I got a great shaded portrait on my third try; it's encouraging me to take it a bit more seriously... posted by mediareport at 5:31 PM on February 11, 2006
I submitted a crudely drawn mutant dude and got an intricate anime dude back.
I did my mouse on its mousemat with a monitor behind it showing a mini more wobbly version. Thought about signing it 'Michael J Mouse' but i've yet to learn hieroglyphics. Got in return what appeared to be Sonic the Hedgehog in drag. Noticed they render animated so thought i'd harness that in compensation for my crappy mouse skillz by doing an AWESOME slinky going down a staircase.. I failed.
Fun place, and that one it gives props.. sorta like a two player game of fp. posted by Kino at 3:59 AM on February 12, 2006

I just sent a rather toothy fish, and received a buzz-cut body builder, with a kanji tattoo, screaming, "SUSHI TEMP [line break] URA!"
