Can you prove it didn't happen? Best known for his work on Plan 9 from Outer Space, the Amazing Criswell had quite a career outside of his rare appearances in film. The spit-curled, stentorian psychic had a penchant for bizarre predictions, was the source for music by Mae West, and inspired some damned interesting writing.

I would have included the obligatory Wikipedia entry, but I wrote a lot of it.

Looking at your past posts, MrBaliHai, I'm not sure we're not twins.

I'm not sure we're not twins.

I was an orphan, raised by bonobo apes at the Milwaukee Zoo, so it's not beyond the realm of possibility.

And I was hitherto unaware of the Criswell/Mae West connection, so thanks for uncovering that fascinating audio tidbit.

If you're wondering where most of the people on Last.fm got their copy of "Criswell Predicts", Dr. Mysterian had it for awhile...

At least, that's where I got it. As well as my weekly predictions of the future.

And he predicted captcha.

Dr. Mysterian needs to update. I'll tell him, as, according to the Omaha Reader, I am him.

Oh, man. His pronouncements in "Orgy of the Dead" are peerless and priceless.

"A pussycat begs to be whipped!" (from memory)

"Torture! Torture! It pleasures me!!" Something along those lines, heh. Haven't seen it in years.

Criswell was a genius though. Somewhere I have the "Criswell Predicts: Your Incredible Future" CD; this FPP inspires me to go look for it.
