Sorry if this is too soon after the last post about her, but we're in a life and death struggle for governor here in Alabama. Do y'all really want Roy Moore, who values religion over the constitiution, to have control of the Alabama National Guard?

Yes, I do !

Finally, a place on the internet to see breasts! And it only costs $50! If you don't think that's a deal, maybe you'll change your mind when I tell you it's an animation!

Isn't that somewhat disingenuous, considering that Moore is very unlikely to beat incumbent Gov. Bob Riley in the first place?

[In the Republican primaries, that is.]

Actually, donating to this girl would make it More likely that moore would win the election by sapping the democrat of votes, Nader style.

You shouldn't support her unless you like neither of Alabama's candidates.

The sad thing is that she's another demented "privatize everything that isn't nailed down" libertarian. I mean, christ, we've finally got third party candidates here and they're all further to the right than what we had before. Which is no small accomplishment. Poor Lucy Baxley. She probably thought those people were gonna cook her and eat her.

But yeah, it doesn't look like Moore is getting the nomination. I know, I know... I said before that I thought he would. Well, I was wrong. Or at least, it looks like I was wrong. We'll know in June.

delmoi;

She'd draw at least as many Riley voters as she'd take from Baxley. Probably more.

Libertarians are not 'right-wing' in any meaningful sense of the word.

And while I'm sure she'd like to privatize quite a few things, you'll notice that her two key issues are the War on Drugs (she's against it) and prison reform, and other issues mentioned in her (one) press release are non-compliance with the Patriot Act and "Alabama out of Iraq." She's also got a lengthy bit extolling the virtues of illegal immigrants. A raging right-winger indeed.

Plus, she uses the phrase "how 'bout them apples" in her campaign platform. How could you vote for anyone else?

If I really wanted too, I could look up the biggest, nastiest breasts the world has ever seen - for free.

I had lunch with Loretta Nall not too long ago, the culmination of a series of calls and e-mails she'd initiated after I had written about her on my blog. Loretta is not as far to the right as you paint her, Clay201. I mean, how right-wing is it to be utterly and unabashedly pro-pot? Her stance reminds me of the old saw about recent converts being the most zealous. I agree that writing for Lew Rockwell raises a few eyebrows, mine included, but she described herself to me as a "common-sense libertarian" who is more concerned with social issues and justice reform than with reinstituting anarcho-syndicalism or facilitating Wal-Mart's complete co-option of the United States government.

I like her. She has a kind of newly-awakened political consciousness coupled with good old Alabama-bred mulishness (and I mean that in the best way) that will at least make the sparks fly in political debates.

All of this is a moot point if she doesn't get on the ballot by June 6. That's a month to collect 42,000 VALID signatures, and you just know that there's three little old ladies in a dusty backroom on Goat Hill who have figured out the exact legal formula for getting names struck from petitions, so she'll need at least twice that many signatures.

And it's interesting to note that the Alabama Libertarian Party website hasn't been updated since April 25 and mentions nothing about an urgent signature drive to get their gubernatorial candidate on the ballot.

"The sad thing is that she's another demented "privatize everything that isn't nailed down" libertarian."

Take a look at her platform. Privatization isn't even mentioned. The closest she comes is to criticize the current governor's very unpopular tax plan (lost by 2-1 margin and he's ducking that issue, now) and school choice.

She actually talks about spending more money in several areas -- money saved by having a more humane law enforcement system.

At least she's talking issues, Baxley isn't.

Hey, BOP. Long time no see.

The LP Alabama site has been updated. The top entry (welcome ) is just sticky.

Ballot access is the third issue and this fundraising campaign is the 4th issue on the front page.

We're also doing what we can on to get out the third party vote on primary election day, since the constitutional amendment will be on the ballot, too. We need to GOTV the thrid party and inde votes for that issue.

You missed a good party last night. :)

Small world.

Steve, the link at the Ala Libertarian website is buried halfway down the page and doesn't say a thing about getting signatures. There's no handy method of getting a preprinted form to collect sigs, there's no link to Loretta's page, there's a reference to a gay marriage amendment proceeded by the words "While the Libertarian Party is excluded from the primary process"...

It doesn't exactly scream "Let's help our candidate win!"

OK, if I scroll down a little further, then I find what I'm looking for.

Ergo, the welcome message needs to be smaller and less sticky.

I refuse to admit I was an idiot for not scrolling down far enough.

Dammit.

BOP - they are in the process of taking down some graphics and modifying the forms and such right now. I just got a flurry of e-mail about it.

And, folks, I haven't spent the fitty bucks needed to view "the biggest boobs in Alabama politics", but I get the sense that if one were to pony up the cash, you would not get a gander at Ms. Nall's girls. No, I think you might see two politicos whom the lady does not hold in very high esteem. This is just a guess, mind you.

Unfortunately, the blogosphere is playing it like Mary Carey redux. Which, you know, it ain't.

How in the hell can one determine the two biggest boobs in Alabama politics?
There are so many!
Lets' start with Roy Moore.

Oh, breasts! Never mind then.
