Multi-link YouTube Post: Communist China vs. Nationalist China, Satan is Real, Recycling 2 (actually submitted as a school project about recycling), Absurdlutely [more inside]

This filmmaker, Scott Hanshew, is 18 years old and works at a fishmarket with my friend Thadeus. I've never met the kid, so I'm assuming this doesn't count as a self-link. I just got a kick out of his work. It's rough around the edges, but nicely absurdist and witty, I think. I've linked to the ones I've watched so far, but there are more in his profile.

Well, wumpus (and, on preview, KAD) I went back and forth about posting this. I found these really funny, but I figured that a lot of people wouldn't be into it. If nothing else, I was impressed with the kid's filmic sense of humor, particularly in the editing and timing (drawn out awkward pauses, non-sensical flashcuts, etc.).

I enjoyed "Lobster" a whole bunch, and I'm not afraid to say so. Lately I've been enjoying short films that are well off the beaten path, and I might never have seen these otherwise. Thanks, brundlefly.

The "cactus cactus cactus cactus cactus CHAIR" bit in Absurdlutely was inspired silliness. First good laugh I've had all day.

The Nationalist China vs. Communist China started out as really grating, until midway through I realized it wasn't just an awkward and pointless discussion, but a retelling of history.

I dunno, I'm liking that Zelda 64 music well enough. In fact, these are good.

This is making me wish I had a video camera so I could get on YouTube and make a complete and utter idiot of myself. I bet it's lots of fun. I mean surely if crap like this can get MeFi'd, there'd be a place for my ignorant stupidity.

Of course, all I'd do is review my own videos and then complain to myself about how fat I am. And ugly. And any day now I'm gonna go bald, I just know it.

Vindaloo : "God damn it, this ain't YouTube!"

No, this is a filter site, where we filter other sites, like YouTube. It's pretty clear that this isn't YouTube: do you see any video playing on this page?
