Carly Simon on the Phil Donahue show - 1990
"An audience member asks Carly: Was You're So Vain about Warren Beatty? And did Mick Jagger sing vocals on that?
Carly: I've never, ever told who You're So Vain is about. But I will tell you since you're so very pretty in that pink sweater....it's about the young Oprah Winfrey."

And did you know that Carly Simon was once married to James Taylor? The mind reels.

Super freaky: she has a sister with the same first name as was used by fellow famous person Lucille Ball—on a TV show called I Love Lucy!
Somebody call Fox Mulder.

Hey, no way! Fox Mulder is a fictional character, cortex. You can't call a fictional character, dude. You have to write the fictional character into a scenario so it goes how you want. Like . . . um, I got nothin'.
Little help?

I have always been so, so, so annoyed by "You're so Vain." The lyrics state: "You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you....." Think about it-- this makes NO sense!! The song is about the person, so it wouldn't be vain to think it is about themselves.
Your honor, let me elucidate my point with an example. Let us say that it was a simple, unassuming mefi'te that the song was about. Or heck, even an arrogant asshat mefi'te. We will call this Mefi'te "Mick." Carly writes a song: "[Mick] you are so vain, you think this song is about you." Mick hears the song and says, "gee. Carly wrote a song about me." Now, since the song IS about Mick, is he vain for reaching that that conclusion or rather is he just logically rigorous? I cannot see how it is vain to recognize something about you is truly about you.
