Pulp Fiction cover art

If you're a fan of pulp fiction paperback covers, then you've probably seen the artwork of R.A. Maguire. The Gallery on his personal site comes in three flavors: Covers, Reference Photos (to aid in cover renderings) and Original Art, which are essentialy covers stripped of the Title/Author/Publisher/Price info. via

Very cool. And inexpensive! Would make a great gift for someone (you know, after that cereal dispenser thing).

Not to come off as an ubercheapskate, I first thought, "Hey! These links may contain something I'll print a copy of and hang!"

Well, as good as the art is, it's way to misogynistic for my walls.

I mean really, I'll never be able to bag a self-actualized independent chick with this stuff above the couch.

I love the lurid titles even more than the cover art:
The Flesh Peddlers & My Gun, Her Body.

BTW, probably should have nsfw by the reference photos link.

Joy Ride - Jane joins the crew of a floating brothel - offering her charms to men of all nations - in a desperate attempt to foil a Red Chinese plot to take rule the world!

Jane, did you think this through?

Great post jonson, interesting art of a lost genre. As a fan of Jim Thompson I love looking at this stuff, even if what's in the pages will not be up to the Thompson Avant Garde meets the Gutter style. Rather have these hanging around than John Bloody Grisham, Koontz and airport fiction. At least it is honest in its luridness.

The paintings are just fantastic, don't get me wrong. But oh, my god, those reference photos. *swoon*

Happily for me as a self-actualized independent chick I get to hang up stuff like this and everyone thinks I'm even more self-actualized.

(And dude, they're like five dollars.)
