Cricket & Bollywood fans will be amused to hear that there is an ad here in which Brett Lee is in some kind of office, and the receptionist looks up with an "OMG it's Brett Lee!" look on her face, only to have him start singing hindi filmi music!
I think it has something to do with a Brett Lee - Asha Bhosle collaboration album (!!!), but I have yet to follow up on this. posted by UbuRoivas at 12:22 AM on January 25, 2007
My god, it's been so long since I've seen this ad! Memories. :-) posted by the cydonian at 7:36 AM on January 25, 2007
this first link is absolutely the most insane ad i've ever seen posted by infini at 8:44 AM on January 25, 2007
These are gorgeous. Thanks for posting, hadjiboy. posted by Milkman Dan at 9:36 AM on January 25, 2007
(hm, now i've had a chance to watch the whole thing, it turns out that Brett was actually singing in English. Just) posted by UbuRoivas at 8:57 PM on January 25, 2007
Delightful post on Indian advertising.
I love the bizarrely creative and silly Happydent chewing gum teeth sparkle one, totally hilarious. posted by nickyskye at 10:07 PM on January 25, 2007
YouTube was being difficult with me tonight and so I could only see the ads on GoogleVideo. A little bit later I can now see the ones on YouTube, they are amazingly funny and wonderful! The permanent marker one is side-splitting! Only in India could they have fun depicting death, mourning, old traditions, the husband-wife connection and sell a permanent marker, while somehow being uplifting and playful, all at the same time.
But I still don't understand how my talking dog post prompted you to this cool one on Indian TV ads. :) posted by nickyskye at 11:31 PM on January 25, 2007
*gee how did that happen? It was supposed to read, always loved the advertising on the matchboxes of India. posted by nickyskye at 8:46 PM on January 26, 2007

I was trying to make a link to an Indian ad for a telecom company which has a pug in its marketing programme, in your thread, but the video wasn't playing, so thought why not make a post.
Glad you guys liked it:) posted by hadjiboy at 9:32 PM on January 26, 2007
Here's the link, if anyone's interested.
Not sure if the video will play for you though. posted by hadjiboy at 9:37 PM on January 26, 2007
aww, That is a seriously adorable pug ad! (Can't believe it includes film of the boy peeing though). Here's the YouTube link for it. posted by nickyskye at 1:42 PM on January 27, 2007
