Reminds me lying awake at night as a kid with a shortwave radio, and finding stuff like this and wondering where on earth it was coming from.

Small world, then. Awesome site.

Small world indeed. The guy did say that he's just relaunched the site; it must be being announced in a number of different places. Also I guess the link checker doesn't cover all parts of Metafilter.

I remember listening to CHU on shortwave as a kid (en francais, "say ash oo") on shortwave just to hear the time go by.

Wow. Makes me really wish I had a movie to score with weird radio stuff. Truly otherworldly and beautiful.

Haha. Small, small world indeed. Thanks for the endorsement on the blue! I'm flattered.

Reminds me of sitting at my desk at night as a kid with a shortwave radio and a bong.

A+ mykescipark.

Wish I could find a working link for persian love, but I'm guessing you have it already.

I should have said, via sound-scavengers. As the FAQ says it's a little slow, but they come up with some interesting stuff.

Being able to identify the ‘Mystery Torch Song from Ukraine’ remains my proudest AskMe moment: I’m glad I was able to contribute a little someting to this fascinating project.

I think this might be my favorite Mefi post ever. I was gonna say "great post, carter" but now that the author turned out to be another guy from here, congratulations to both. It's fantastic.

I should duck back in and say that misteraitch's glorious answer to my original "Mystery Torch Song" quandary - asked on my behalf as a non-user - led me to become a card-carrying MeFite. So thanks. :-)
