You know what I want to see? I want to see a Transformers movie, only the Transformers are all made out of plywood and late 70s/early 80s used car parts, and they do battle by breakdance-fighting to early hiphop!
A friend of mine will be receiving this link shortly. I expect by tomorrow morning he will have built his own much larger and more complicated version. Of titanium, or some exotic metal. From parts currently strewn around his workshop.
I kind of just smiled and moved on at first, but going through all the options really kills. The 120VAC outlet. The cupholder. The video of the antennae coming out.
It will even power an official NASCAR Jeff Gordon blender!
A portable block party, if you ask me! But really, friends, what do we expect from the man who brought us Wanky the Safety Cat? posted by NationalKato at 11:40 AM on June 12, 2007
rock the house!
I had a pathetic red-headed stepchild of this set up in my room for a little bit, but never would I have dreamed up such a lovely creation, let alone make it REAL.
I would play with the antennae all day long. posted by Busithoth at 11:41 AM on June 12, 2007
the only thing cooler than this boombox is the Star Trek IV reference made above by DU. posted by ericbop at 11:43 AM on June 12, 2007

As the first person to tell cortex that it was a jambox (and being summarily made fun of by several people for it), I thank you, ninjew, for using the term. And for the link of course since it's a freakin' awesome jambox, but, yeah, whatever. JAMbox, mickey fickey. posted by sleepy pete at 1:28 PM on June 12, 2007
You can blame Meatwad.
I grew up with jambox. Never heard boombox til later 80s, but I no linguist. posted by mrgrimm at 1:31 PM on June 12, 2007
I was sorta referencing Meatwad as well with the 'jambox'. Also I just like the word. posted by ninjew at 1:44 PM on June 12, 2007
Ninety-two pounds of plywood and car parts joined together as an homage to the homemade car-battery boomboxes used by first-generation break dancers....
You know who else liked to jamboxes? posted by NationalKato at 2:21 PM on June 12, 2007
I'm happy. My '77 Datsun's nervous. But I'm happy.
