Ffffound is kind of like del.icio.us for images.

I know this site has been around for a while and I've dropped in a couple of times, but I'm still kind of finding myself at a loss in terms of finding any great benefits here. Taking for example this wonderful Haeckel image from Kunstformen der Natur, I then look at the 'you may like these images' pool beneath it and...there's no connection, no images of a comparative style by most measures.

So I guess I'm supposed to then scan the samples below that saved by other people who liked the Haeckel illustration and perhaps find something akin to my tastes and then explore their sets. The thing that I think that's missing, that really is needed for this site to entice me back is the thing that made (makes) del.icio.us so useful, which is tags. Without tags this site is just a visual cornucopia, which is of course fine in itself, but it isn't actually very useful except for random browsing, to my mind. I'm happy to hear other opinions of course.

Sometimes I like to sit and watch the Flickr slideshow for interesting images from the last seven days. It would be a cool feature for Ffffound as well.

If the site became popular, it would be full of boring crap.

Yeah, I love this; visit daily, and have almost never come away without following at least one link, or snagging an image or two. I don’t find the ‘you may like...’ listings any more than casually interesting (I don’t need another collector‘s history; I want the goods). What I enjoy is getting clued into the artists or collections that you find from clicking on any particular image’s source.

And I guess as I use it, I really appreciate that it’s a finite listing, rather than a bottomless pit, like flickr. It’s an EDITED collection!I’d rather a small set of sharp and quite similar posters and no privileges myself, than an endless unsorted supply and the option of adding to the blizzard. Stay in beta for ever, AFAIC...

Interesting concept, but I found it really hard to find any sort of photo credits for a lot of the photos.
