Perhaps before a refreshing spa, why not let your kitty enjoy a vigorous workout? [via b3ta]

Hey, a 3 minute video of a cat walking on a treadmill! YES!
posted by Justinian at 4:36 AM on October 13, 2007

Yeah, but can he dance?

A treadmill? She needs to hit weights!

(Still impressive for an eyeless cat though.)

Needs a montage, set to the theme of Rocky. Gotta have a montage.

Love that silly chestnut. Especially when November pants with that little anime style mouth.

My fave is RavinDave's dancing cockatoo! Hilarious and amazing. Adding to the caturday and animal cutesy pooness: kitten fight surprise l Jesus cat l Golden Retriever nurses stray kitten l absolute contentment etc l strange parrot-laughing man relationship l Baby Guiness, hamster l baby monkey and pigeon and luxuriating in tender enjoyment, Rudy licks Winston.

I like how the owner put the ball on there as bait, but November is like "yeah whatever ball"

My favourite part was with the cat on the treadmill.

Sure, that's some neat paw-work, but she'll have to have more in the locker when she meets Tom "Mr Tiddles" Stray for the Rumble in the Backyard. Lucky to still be yowling into the fifth round, IMO.

I WANTS TO GIVE MY DADDY A KISS BUT THE FLOOR KEEPS MOVING!

(I have been spending far too much time with no one but two hyper-affectionate cats for company.)

I am so rigging that up on my treadmill. I've got a 15-pounder who needs to get in better shape and he does hang out on the treadmill when it's not moving. Now if I can just figure out how to hang a bag of cat food instead of a ball...

Do cockatoos really have rhythm like that or was the video "Photoshopped"? That's amazing. Weird Al should get that bird for one of his music video parodies.

IM ON UR TREDMIL STEALIN UR AIROBIKS.

The cat hamster wheel is noisy, giving, brilliant.

At last, some expert comment on matters of feline training.

The reason I love this video is that it's so bleak... an eyeless cat condemned to a Sisypheian task, never quite completing or even understanding it. Even its feline ingenuity is defeated - it gets on the treadmill halfway down but it's then carried back to the start again. Still the cat keeps trying, and trying, and trying...

It made me feel sad, yet somehow exhilirated at the uncrushable feline spirit. Samuel Beckett would have approved.

Does anyone have any beans?

And here we have the inspiration for Munch's "The Scream."

At one point kitty decides to try approaching from the other side, but just misses getting it right. That kitty never tries again is a sad commentary on the limits of cat rationality.

Fucking awesome video, thanks. I want to play it on an infinite loop at work to remind myself that things could be worse.

I know this is not the sort of stuff that metafilter is for, really, but to be honest i could watch cats do funny shit all day long. So there you go.

Ok.

Open this in a new window. Quickly alt-tab back to this window, and click the FPP link, then mute it so that the sound from the first link plays.

I was just gonna say something snarky about oh, another treadmill video, but ... is it just me or is there some serious Dark Side of the Rainbow action going on?

I watched this video again this morning. It's a cat on a treadmill! A CAT on a TREADMILL!
